i went to lfs today and they have set up a new shrimp corner with some really cool looking shrimps. i bought 3 labelled as d'orange shrimp and was told they are a form of cherry or the same species just bright orange.. couldnt resist them as they really are very bright and colourfull. do i treat them like cherrys? has anyone got any of these?

Any pictures? I know chrrys have a yellow form but theres also a shrimp labled as tangerine shrimp that are completely different that I kept.

no pics yet but just googled tangerine shrimps and they are very similar if not them.... i thought d'orange shrimp sounded a bit strange
if they are the same as yours are they very fragile? do they need any special treatment? will they breed like cherrys? is there any difference between males and females?

Tangerine shrimp dont breed in freshwater and actually come from brackish conditions in the wild. Mine seemed very hardy and were fine for a month or so but then all vanished in the space of about a week. Though at the time I also lost more hardy shrimp like snowballs so I think there was something off about my water.

That's cheap! :p Depending on what type anyway.

Over the long term they require warmer water than other shrimp that's hard and alkaline. They will breed in freshwater though.

Hi mate the saluwasi were a dark red/purple with white or light blue spots accross the back they looked really nice. they also had some small crs for £3.50 each :good:
so my orange shrimp will be ok then...? are they called tangerine shrimps and not d'orange as lfs have them labelled? i have hard alkaline water so will the saluwasi be ok too?

If you fancy them buy both the crs shrimps and the sulawesis - they're both usually way more expensive. sent some to me if you want!
