When i did a water change last night i turned the filter off, only planning to leave it off for 15-20 minutes, i done the water change and totally forgot to turn the filter back on and only remembered 5 hours later when i thought there was no movement from the air pump and i thought dam i didn't turn it back on, how many people on here have forgot to turn it back on? i am worried about the fish, one or two were acting a bit strange but soon looked ok again as soon as i turned it back on, would it be likely to cause any deaths? they are all ok this morning.

i've done that before...

Turning off the filter so it doesn't suck up the worms... Fed them, forgot to plug it back in and went to bed... Next morning i turned it back on. Fish were fine, but i did have an air stone at the time..

did the filter media dry out?

No filter media didnt dry out :D, the water change was done within 20-30 mins, the filter was mostly underwater the whole time so it should be ok.

you should be fine as the media stayed wet, 5 hours is not usually enough for the bacteria to die. :)

should be fine, fuse tripped on our upstairs socket ring last night and i didn't know until i went to bed, filter was probably off most of the afternoon/evening. should be fine though but i'll be doing water tests tonight in case of a mini cycle, you should do the same, monitor your levels for the next couple of days, water change if nescessary

lol - Ive done that dave :)

Luckily I have an external, so its always in water. As far as I am aware, as long as its not out of the water for more than a few mins, its fine. Obviously if your using to to oxygenate that wont work though :hyper:

Hehe - I left the heater off once though

Indeed. I'd go easy on the food for a few days, too - just to be on the safe side, Dave.

I have done it before. But I would not worry to much it was only 5 hours right?

yeah thats not too bad.
ive left the heater off for a week before without noticing and if i remember correctly nothing died because of it
