Yes its me yet again, ive done something so silly after changing my water and filter pad in my guppy fry tank earlier on 2day,my Mrs went into labour anyway because of the panic i forgot to switch the power back on in my tank i.e filter and heater.......i came home some 9 hours later to find the tank temp had dropped to 21oC. Instantly i put the heater and filter back on am just wondering if the fry will be ok? I didnt put hotter water in straight away because i didnt want to shock them i thought it would be better to let the heater do its job over time to lessen the stress btw there approx 7 weeks right down to 2 weeks old.If anyone could reassure me please would be most grateful had a 7lb 11oz boy btw :D

Congratulations on our baby son, bet you are proud, done the right thing not adding any hot water to the tank, let it go up gradually, just watch out for signs of whitespot, columnaris, and swin bladder problems, but if it didn't drop the temp to fast they should be ok, if they are livebearers only in there i would add some salt.

yes i added salt after the water change, they seem ok at mo well there swimming and eating any how. Thanks for the congrats too :)
I also forgot to say i normally keep the tank temp at about 24oC well inbetween 24oC and 25oC

Firstly, congrats on your new bundle of joy! :good:
Your fry should be alright, I've raised fry at room temperature before without any problems. Your right to assume not to add warm water as at the age they probably would've died of shock. If you want you can test your water to see if your parameters are ok and didn't spike while the filter was off. Otherwise, if your fry seem now after that period of time, they'll be okay.

Wasn't in labour long i was in labour 20 hours, and 10 for the next one. wish you all the best, what you calling him.

Thanks snowy im just glad i dint put warmer water in its creeping up now back to normal temp. I know the labour thing wasnt long but she dont think that :p bout 7 hours i think, hes called Callum Lewis she has to stay in the hospital till tomorrow and shes p@ssed

Lovely name irish, kick you out now after a day, congrats again.

Congrats! I had a long labor too. They started inducing me Wed AM and my 9 lb 8 oz son was born at 5 minutes to midnight on Friday. Had to stay in hosp 3 more days. My next is due in October.

I hope your fry are OK. I've no advice but it sounds like others have you covered. :D I just wanted to say that you're not stupid for forgetting to plug things in while your wife was in labor. Forgetting your in labor wife to take care of your fry, now THAT would be stupid. ;)

Congratulations on your Son :) such a lovely name. I wish I was nearing labour again. I think the fry will be fine, I was in labout for 6 hours with Serenity-Grace, she was 5lb8oz.
