thanks to everyone that helped me with advice..... have just cleaned out whole box filter from juwel tank, washed sponges and changed some water..... oh i also added a new nitrAte sponge and 2 moss balls........ with a bit of luck that will lower my nitrAte. cheers for all your help and advice it was much appreciated!!!

what did u wash everything in with regards to your fish are now gasping and dying in other thread

washed it in old tank water. have found out why ammonia has spiked now

Ammonia has spiked because you've possibly washed too many good bacteria away

I only ever wash half my filter sponges at any one time
