i was just wondering if the tumbled river stones they sell at the dollar store are safe to use in a tank for a betta. i mean they're such a good price at $1 a pound! if i rinse them off they should be okay right?

boil them to make sure you've killed off any nasties, if you'r not sure what stones they are drop a little bit of vinegar one one, if it fizzes its acidic and you shouldn't add it to your tank.

but just in general there's no reason to pay lfs prices for gravel and stones, just go to a garden centre or something like that and you can get them a lot cheaper! :D

I really woudnt advise boiling them, especially if you dont know what type of stone they are, They might explode
