Hello!

I'm new to all this, and am in the middle of a fishless cycle following advice I've read on here for my 30gallon tank. This might be a silly question to some but I just want to make sure I have everything I need before I add fish, but when doing a regular water change, should you add de-chlorinator to just the bucket(s) of water your adding, or will adding it to the whole tank to any harm?

Also, should the water be heated before adding it to the tank? I'm guessing warm tap water is a no? In that case is a heater in a bucket the best bet?

I add dechlorinator to each bucketful of water before adding to the tank. And I temperature match the water going in.

Nothing wrong with using water from the warm tank, and whether or not you need to temperature match depends on the percentage you're replacing, if it is less than 25% then there's no need, any more and yes you should temperature match.

Adding dechlorinator to the buckets is best, if you want to add it to the tank, you must add enough for the whole tank.
