was checking my fish this morn and it appears I have an outbreak of whitespot :(

I have bought aquarium treatment anti whitespot plus and have begun treatment.

It says that the 2nd treatment is on day 4 - but i think i remember reading somewhere on here that u treat 12 days in a row?

can anyone shed any light for me please?

cheers

It depends on the treatment (I'm becoming something of an expert, with my current run of seemingly uncurable whitespot)

Ive used a number of treatments to try and find one that works, one needed treatment on days 1 and 4, followed by 8 days off before retreatment if needed - whilst anothe directs treatment on days 1,2,3 and 6.

Follow the instructions to the letter, and slowly up your temp to 82f, and you'll not go wrong.

Just one note of caution, if like me you have clown loaches - or other similar scaleless fish, you may need to half the dose - but you'll have to check with the manufacturer to be sure...

If its the interpet whitepot plus treatment its just one dose then if it hasnt cleared on the 4th day you can treat it again but you dont have to.

When I had it I did a 40% w/c then treated it, after the 4th day it was gone so I did another water change and its never come back.

If you're going to dose more than the recomended amount, just remember to do water changes between so that you don't overdose the fish.

again, that depends on the product. I'm currently using protozin to treat the whitespot in my tank, and thats designed to gradually increase the dose over period of a few days in order to get the maximum dose in whilst allowing the fish to gradually acclimatise to it...
