Does This Plan Of Stocking Sound Ok?

This is brilliant I think I am going to go with this plan, cpds, fighter and some ghost shrimps thank you very much!

you may get away with the betta... i know alot of people would say otherwise, bit i house a male with some guppys fine... but he is a bit of a puff. I tried to breed him, bubble nest went up mateing underway ... then she beat him up . He almost seems to "school" with the guppys now. The female has joined the other female bettas in the big tank for now. (need to decide what to do next lol)

If you do go for a betta, a tip is to add the other fish 1st and put him last so he doesnt establish his territory 1st, and nail anything which comes near it.

Are you adding a source of ammonia while cycling? what size fiter you got? i could cut the sponge from my small tank in half, would only be 3cmx3cmx3cm or so but if it would fit under your media, it may speed up the cycle and colonise your media quicker.

I got interpret filter start from pets at home as advised... but ive just googled it and it doesnt even have ammonia in it - whaaaat! Why would he give me it? I told him I wanted to do a fishless cycle... I dont like pets at home anymore I think I may have to start again!

My filter is just the one that came with the tank - classica power bio 700... but has got quite a strong current for a betta fish and dont know how to slow it down, im planning on buying a tetratec 600 in the future.

I need a new plan of action!

A piece of old tights secured over the outlet does a wonder, or make a spray bar, or buy one. one of the earlier options are much cheaper (some bettas dont mind a bit flow,, depends if its a massive whirl pool, then its bad). Mine like to sit infont of the one i have just put in an established tank with the old filter still running to culture bacteria to the new media for my fry tank. and he loves going for a little blast infront of it.

I like to use the guy at harton village, the aquatic centre i think its called. He does not stock a huge range of fish, but they are all well kept good quality tanks. When i was cycling mine i just had a few zebra danions in,they are hard as nails and ammonium producing beasts, 3 for £1.99 you cannot go wrong either. No issues at all, then stock it up from their. 2 of my mates got a small tank from pets at home at the same time as me and fish. Out of about 12 fish i think only 3 are still alive now. All died of ich or white spot. Only deaths i have occured are through stupid fish wedging themselfs behing rocks or filters or jumpers despite a lid!

If you need a hand with anything i'll try my best to help like, but i'm fairly new to this game too, but a bit addicted lol.

I have a spray bar but its quite strong it pushes my plants all over and moves the sand near it! Yeah I agree pets at home have so many dead fish even when you just go to look at them its terrible.
Would your filter sponge fit in my filter do you think? Im desperate to do this right and as fast as possible I am willing to pay? Thanks again for help do you have fb

Yeah i do, if you search for ryan maguire in shields my profile pic is the same on here. You can just cut a piece off and have it to size to squeeze into the bottom if your filter. And if theirs enough ammonia it will grow and culture onto your media. Try the spray bar pointing up, but submerged about an inch... their will be little mounds of water. Its is good for surface aggrigation while minimising current. In my 125lt i have a bioflow 1000lt/h so its pretty strong current (the guy who had it befor me had it for malawi cichlids. But i made a spray bar and done what i said above and works pretty well, my gouramis have managed to build bubble nests and spawn bout 3 or 4 times.

Yay my spray bar is perfect now It also helped when I filled it up a bit more and moved the filter up as high as possible.

have a fighter with my cpds at th moment. no problems. . cpds are shy butut i have found that if kept with alot of other small fish fish they are far from timid.
