Guys

Grateful if you could take a look at this danio which seems to be acting abnormally;

Tank size: 155 lt
pH: 7.8 - 8.00
ammonia:0.0
nitrite:0.0
nitrate:10ppm
kH:nk
gH:18 degrees
tank temp:25

Fish Symptoms: This danio is the runt of the litter, small, dull markings & spends a lot of the time at the bottom of the tank. He sits still for while then does a frantic dart about before settling again. He is eating & will chase the other danios if they get too close. Been like this for over a week.

Volume and Frequency of water changes:20% every 4 days

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: no additives

Tank inhabitants:9 danios, 10 cherry barbs, 6 mollies

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):none

Exposure to chemicals:none

Does he lay on his side at the bottom of the tank.
Does he turn upside down.
Can he maintain balance in water.
Does he look thin or bloated.
Check his anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.
Does he swim on his side.
Any sores or red streaking on his body.
Check his gills to see if they look pale or darker in colour.
Any excess slime on the fish body.
Is he being bullied.

Darting mean the fish is dying, toxins in the water, overdose of meds, stray voltage, ph shock, parasites.

Does he lay on his side at the bottom of the tank. No but ocasionally he can tilt sideways very slightly
Does he turn upside down. No
Can he maintain balance in water. Yes
Does he look thin or bloated. No but he is much smaller than my other 8
Check his anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed. No sign of any redness or inflamation
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet. The usual small green poop
Does he swim on his side. no
Any sores or red streaking on his body. no
Check his gills to see if they look pale or darker in colour. The insides appear dark red
Any excess slime on the fish body. No
Is he being bullied. Not that we have seen & the wife is in with them all day (in the house that is, not in the tank!)

Thanks.

Does he flick and rub on things in the tank.
Any excess slime on his gill.
Tilting to oneside can be bacterial and red gills can be bacterial gill rot.
What his breathing like.

Does he flick and rub on things in the tank. No
Any excess slime on his gill. None that I can see
Tilting to oneside can be bacterial and red gills can be bacterial gill rot.
What his breathing like. seems to be normal & steady like the rest

I do have some pimafx & melafix in the house - is there any point in trying one or the other at this stage?

Dosn't sound like there a parasite involved then.
Can you issolate the fish.
melafix is only good on cuts and wounds.
Whats your location for a med.

I live in the 3rd world, or Middlesbrough as it's more commonly known.

I can buy another tank tomorrow & will if there is any risk to the rest of my stock.

it's always best to issolate sick fish as they can build resistance up to meds.
The red part on the gills does it look like it's bleeding.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

if they eat his dead body desease can pass on that way.
if the other fish are ok just do a few water changes on the next few days.

I actually have that med in the house (bought it just in case)

I'll nip out in the morning & grab a hospital tank.

Once again I thank you for your time & advice, much appreciated.

Good luck.
Hope he makes it as he dosn't sound to good.
