Does The Lighting Make A Difference?

Hi. I have a Juwel Vision 180 tank. The light unit i have has a white and i think pinkish coloured bulb in it, i bought the tank second hand and have kept the lights that were in it as they work perfectly alright. In my previous tank, i had one white bulb and one blue one, when on together they made a light blue glow in the tank, and i used to see all my fish out and active. Just concerned as didnt know whether the light effects the fish behaviour, as my kuhli loaches just hide all the time, they only appear for a few minutes to gobble a bit of food then go into hiding again - would a change of colour bulb encourage them to make more of an appearance in my tank?

i dont think lighting makes much difference to a fish. it does for plants though.
i think lights are only so you can see the fish. if you want to bring out the colours of one type of fish use the bulb colour of that type of fish. e.g a reddish and blue one for neons

If it pink it probably need changing.

does anyone know where i can get reasonably priced T5 bulbs from? My LFS said they are £22.50 each i thought that was quite expensive for a bulb?

Juwel make a "colour light" which gives off a pink light so its probably fine. Often their tanks are supplied with one daylight tube and one colour tube.
