Does My Platy Have Dropsy?

I have a red wag platy who has had a swollen stomach problem for a while. I recently asked on the forum if there was a chance she was pregnant, but that was ruled out, since there are no males in the tank and her stomach isn't huge all the time.

Her gut gets so big after she eats I swear she could combust. Her underbelly gets very discolored from the swelling. As her stomach begins to swell she gets a little frantic but she usually calms down and just peacefully swims around the tank.

I thought it was swim bladder at first, but none of the symptoms match. Dropsy was the closest fit, but her scales aren't protruding. What's wrong with her?

Perhaps you're feeding too much? A fish's stomach is only about the size of its eye.

I would recommend fasting her for a few days.
Have you notice her pooing?
