I got a new angelfish yesterday to add to my 60 gallon. He/she is in QT right now but I noticed that one of his/her eyes is I bit bigger then the other. It's hard to tell the difference if you look at it from the side but from the front one eye looks a little bigger then the other. I've looked up pictures of popeye but they look much worse then this. I'm not sure if this is indeed popeye and if so how he got it as I just got him. I didn't notice it yesterday when I bought him/her so maybe he/she got hurt in the bag or with the net? If this is popeye, what is the best and quickest way to treat it?

I'm having trouble uploading the pictures. This is the best I can do.

Hi, and welcome :)  it is protruding a little bit ... it could be a birth defect or it could be the start of pop-eye. As he/she is in a Q tank I'd be inclined to add a treatment for pop-eye. If it is pop-eye and you catch it early it should clear up.

Pop-eye is often a sign of something called Hexamita too and this is something that's common in cichlids. Keep a watch out for stringy white poop (it'll look like a length of white sewing thread) and for it becoming lethargic. You guys in the states have access to a medicated fish food and that is best for treating suspected Hexamita and so if you see any of the signs try feeding it some of this food. Once a fish with Hex stops eating the battle is lost so it's important to keep a eye open for it

Hope that helps :)
