Does More Plants And Scenery Make A Betta Happier

sorry for the noobish question, but would more plants and scenery then what I have make my Betta happier?

i would add a taller plant at the back as i have read that they like to sit near the top of the tank.

that was what I was thinking of doing. but I also gotta make room for a heater.

Don't worry about space for heaters, they come really small nowadays. And more plants would look great and definitely make your betta happier! Mine always choose my tallest plants to make their bubblenests around because it anchors the bubbles better.

I don't have a heater in there yet but hopefully for my b day coming up I'll get one.

You need a LOT more plants in there. These fish like to rest on things and squeeze between leaves and generally have somewhere to hide and get away when they want to.

Some taller/longer silk plants along the back and sides would provide cover and resting spots, and the middle could be kept open .Leave about a 2-3 cm gap between the plants and the glass so he can get through and not become trapped .

Alternatively you could arrange most of the plants in one corner or side, and have your skull in the open area.

yh i think he would be happier with more plant and i think a cocnut cave would be good mine loves to hide in there and some live plants aswell

most bettas would be happy with a forest of plants with a tiny bit of swimming space at the front for feeding.

At least another 5-7 medium to tall silk plants I would say.


Enough to either fill the back and sides, or fill at least one corner or end . You could start by putting those two plants you already have, together at the left hand side and then get some taller ones to surround them. Having the plants on the left would hide the view of your filter as well.

go buy some duck weed (lemnna , spirodella, wolffia) and dump it in , you might even find it in ponds outside your house, my bettas love it!! they build their nest in it and even nibble it.
