Well, as the title says does java fern need light? If so, would it be ok if it was just spotlights in the kitchen aiming towards the tank.

Thanks in advance,
Neal

Sorry if I sound daft, but every plant needs light to grow. Common sense.

Since java fern is such an extremely hardy, low-demand plant, I'm sure it could survive with the amount of light you have.

But thrive, that's a different story. How bright are the spotlights, how far away from the tank, and how many hours a day?

All this will help us answer your question better.

It's a bright room with 4 spotlights joined together, and one is facing the fish tank. The tank is on a worktop and the lights are on the ceiling just above it. They are on from like 6:00PM to about 11PM. I'm getting a tank with lights on it in 2 months, i'm just waiting for my brother to find a new house until he gets a new tank.

Regards,
Neal
