do zebra loach like eleocharis pusilla 'mini“

Hi; I had to get some zebra louch today, as I noticed in the last 12 hours, 10s of weeny pest snails (that’s taught me where to get my live plants from!). Anyway, I wanted something that would eat the weeny snails AND NOT REPRODUCE, like assassin snails would have (I nearly got them). I adore these zebra loaches, I must have spent 3-4 hours today just sat watching my tank.
My question is, I’d like to pop some of this eleocharis pusilla 'mini (carpet) down, but just realised the loaches like to sift through the aquasoil
Substrate don’t they? So will the mini carpet upset them?
