I am going to be getting a 20-30 gal tank soon and was hoping to put my betta in with some other community fish. I would be moving the fish that I currently have in my tank into the new tank which are:
-2 balloon mollies
-1 dalmation molly
-2 cory cats
-4 pearl danios

Has anyone had any experience having their bettas with these fish? I have heard that the danios can be a bit nippy.

The balloon mollies and corys will be fine with him. I've kept these with my betta and they're fine. Don't know about the danios though... like you said, they are a bit nippy. A non-balloon molly may be a bit nippy as well.

depends on the betta itself i have kept one with tetras angelfish and barbs in the past but the two i have now tolerate nothing personally i wouldn't take the risk

You'll have to watch very carefully for agression.
Danios are usually nippy and fast, and this can stress the betta.
Ballon mollies can also be a little nippy, but are usually fine, depending on the betta.

I guess I could try puttingt him in a breeding trap and float him in the tank for a little while to see how he reacts to the other fish. Then if he seemed fine I could let him out. He doesn't strike me as very aggressive but then again I have never had him with other fish.
One other question I have is, would he be happy eating the regular flake food that I give the rest of my fish? If not, how would I make sure he would eat the betta food I put in the tank and how would I prevent the other fish from getting it before him?

To be honest, I'd keep him in a tank by himself. If you are to try it, then make sure you have a spare tank in case it doesn't work out.
