I love small fish, though I do have two fancy goldfish which I adore, but I prefer little fish, and one day want to keep clown fish when I get confident in starting up a marine tank, as you have to learn alot on marine set ups.
Big fish for me, small fish just seem so charcterless and all look the same to me. I do have some small fish but i tend to keep these for breeding interest rather than actual interest in the individual fish.
what's a "small fish" and what's a "big fish"? We were talking about monster fish last night in chat and we're talking like 4' snakeheads and 8' gars, those are big fish, and compared to a 1' fish the 1' fish is "small" so what's small and what's "big"?
Ive always considered a big fish to be one over 12 inches and a small fish to be one under 6 inches. Fish over 30 inches are just monsters and shouldnt be kept in home aquariums.
I LOVE tiny fish! I do have some silver dollars though that are 4-5 in. I prefer fish that grow to less than 3or4 inches. My next fish to get is going to be a school of kulhi loaches
I like fish that start off average size and grow "big" (6"+).
One of my favourite fish is my Bristlenose plec because i bought him at around 1" long and now he is 4" long!!! Watching him develop and grow has been so interesting I have really enjoyed it.
My Favourite fish is my 7" Synodontis Angelicus who is so full of character and looks so cool i just love him!
I like small fish and even in bigger aquariums because I don't like to keep fishes in too small space. The smaller the fish the bigger it's tank looks and feels to it I hope.
It depends - generaly I preffer small (as in tiny - less than and inch ) to medium-sized fish (however I consider 8 inches to be medium... so it all depends on your interpretation as well). If I had a large enough tank I would like an osphronemus goramy or two (like it says in my sig.) but I wouldn't agree with keeping any fish in a tank too small for it to be happy - and that includes fish like bettas, clown loaches, bala sharks, danios and plecos. I'm also not a fan of keeping large-growing aggressive fish like oscars and piranhas if you don't have a truly adequate tank (not just the minnimum).
I like small fish becuase they are usually not agressive, highly coloured and you can have more in a tank compaired to larger fish. Tetras being my absolute fav.
ok well I have only small fish (all under 3 inches), I like lots of fish so the smaller the fish the more you can have in a space. I wouldn't mind a few tanks though dedicated to some bigger fish (10-18" or so) but I like them all.
