Hmm...I wouldn't use it, personally. I don't know if sodium combined with silicone and aluminum would be harmful.

I'd really recommend going to any of the local fish stores (even Walmart) and getting a carton of Doc Wellfish's aquarium salt. I got mine for $1.99 for a decent amount, though I don't for the life of me remember for sure where I got it.

I'd go to the petshops and get Aquarium Salt (make sure its not marine salt) and use that. They arent expensive and lasts a long time

Yeah, aquarium salt is the safest bet really.
