coulour glass fish are dyed fish.... this can cause problems with the fishes health and is VERY cruel to the fish! apart from the coloured glass fish tank looks ok. (someone please correct me if im wrong)

the neons and guppys may cause probs due to tail nipping. what size tank are they going in?

ok thanks
2 foot by 1 foot and 1 foot high

the only advise i can give is check each fish is compatible. beware of chinese algae eaters as these can be aggressive once bigger.

By sucking fish do you mean plecs? Depending how big your tank is avoid common plecsas they can grow 18 inches long. Like Laura said i would avoid the glass fish as they will eventually go back to their natural white colour so you may as well get the un dyed fish to begin with.

Platies and guppies being live bearers will quickly over populate the tank so depending on tank size you may want to get all of the same sex. If you do have room for babies, live bearers should be kept at a ratio of one male to 2 or more females.

If you have a tank smaller than 15 gallons you could have some otocinclus to eat algae or if you have a bigger tank, bristlenose plecs do a good job.

id just beware of guppys being nipped ny neons. als0o with platties and guppys your going to have an awful lot of fry! check http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/ out they have a tool where you can insert fish and they say whether there compatible. its under community creator

I'm sorry to be a party pooper, but if your tank is only about 12.5 gallons, you will not be able to fit all those fish in there, and have them lead healthy lives. The schooling fish, neons and glassfish, would like to be in groups of 6 or more. Platies like to be in a ratio of 1 male and 2 females, as do the guppies. The neons, will probably nip the fins of the guppies. The only sucking fish that would fit in a tank your size is an otto, and they like to be in groups of at least three, but preferable more. Ottos also like mature tanks, that is, tanks that have been running without problems for at least six months. That means cycled for six months. As mentioned already, guppies and platies are livebearers and the females will basically arrive pregnant and ready to drop 10-30 fry every month for about 5 months or so, and if there's a male...Well then, I guarantee, you'll have babies every month for the lifespan of the female fish. In addition, deep breath for me, glassfish, correct me if I'm wrong, are idealy a brackish water fish, if memory serves, and neons and sucking fish are most certainly not brackish. That probably explains why glassfish look so crummy in most LFS, apart from the fact that they are dyed. So unfortunate really, since glassfish can be stunning when kept in their ideal conditions and really have lovely coloring. Why do people insist on improving what has already been made ideal, I'll never know? :dunno:

Having said this, your tank is small. I would go for a nice school of 1 species of small, slim-bodied, hardy fish. When I say school, I mean 6 fish. If you'd like, you can have a small shoal of one of the small varieties of corydoras, like 3-4, preferable 4. If there's room, and you have algae issues, a small group of ottos, would be great. The ottos should be put last after the tank matures. If algae is not a problem, you can increase the schooling fish to 8. If you add the fish slowly and build the schools, you will have a nice, active aquarium where fish occupy all levels of the tank. There are droves of fish species that fit this bill perfectly. Do a little research and see what tickles your fancy.

I'm sorry I was a party pooper, but your stocking would have possibly led to disaster.

Phillip are you cycling your tank as suggested in Beginer??

on the fish selection

neon tetras, nice little fish, though can be water quality sensitive to water quality, not good fish to cycle a tank.

color glass fish, I beleave are dyed, a crewl pratice, don't know hw hardy they are though. I just got some glass tetra's and they fasinate me more natral.

platies, hardy fish, make shore you know there sax or you could end up with a tank full in acouple of week.

guppies, same as platies, though not as hardy as they use to be.

a few sucking fish, depends on the speshes.

Altogether in a uncycled 12UKg, a very very big NO.

Since the tank is so small, and as long as you don't have too many hiding places, then I wouldnt' worry about being overpopulated by fry. They WILL get eaten. I have a 5 gallon with half-grown guppies and platies, and even they make sure there is no fry left when the largest of the younger guppies gives birth. I've only been able to save 1 so far.

Indian glassfish are brackish - but most glassfish you get in stores are African glassfish which are a completely different species and are freshwater. But if they are dyed you shouldn't buy them anyway.
