....Giving birth? In the same way that a pregnant woman's water would break.

It's just that my heavily pregnant guppy has got this 'thing' coming out of her bottom and it's been there for a couple of hours.

I also noticed that one of my other guppies released something similar just before she gave birth.

It's thick and a sort of whitey/green colour. I know that she's due because I've been able to see the whites of the frys' eyes for the last 4 days and she's very 'squared off'

Thanks

Kathryn

I've noticed this on my guppies too. It must be like the plug protecting the womb as in humans. Its also possible that its a fry coming out tail first  Good luck with your fry :)

Was thinking of you yesterday by the way kitty falol. I have a male guppy like yours with the disappearing re-appearing black spot

I think he's a keeper

Hi Joby

Cool, I'm glad it's not just me. Now to add a spanner to the works, I've noticed that this 'plug' is still half way out, but there's actually new-born fry in the tank. :S At one point I saw a tail and this plug there together, so it must have squeezed past. I don't know if she's really struggling to get it out. I'm getting a little concerned, bless her :(

It's incredible isn't it! His spot's there more and more now and sometimes more appear! His colouring changes all the time too. Last night he was almost half black and now this morning he's more of a silvery colour. B)
