Hi,
We have recently added 2 pitbull plecs to my daughters tank. They have been in for 2 weeks. Current tank mates are 4 male guppies and 2 Panda cories. We started with 2 guppies and the 2 pandas and had suspected that a guppy had nipped one of the pandas before possibly all gong for the same bit of wafer at once, one panda lost a bit of a pelvic fin (all grown back now), now we have the 4 guppies they seem to be happier with much less chasing of each other (we'll have 6 in the end) The pandas seem to just go about their own business (we'll have 5/6 in the end) but the new plecs seem quite possessive of the space they are sitting in and kind of run at any panda that gets too close, no matter where they have chosen to sit. Is this normal? and could it be on eof these new pitbull plecs that has taken the top off of one of the pandas dorsal fins (the other panda to the one that had a previous bit missing)?,
We have a 60l tank which is quite well planted with two largish bits of morpani wood in it. One of the plecos is quite brave and sits anywhere in the tank, the other one still prefers to hide from onlookers, and has this down to a fine art.
Hopefully someone can help us with this - is it guppies or plecos?

many thanks
Lisa and Izzy

my honest opinion, if it was to be either the guppies or the plecos i would go with the guppies.
it is normal for a plec to charge at another fish if it gets to close to its personal space, however it would be unusual for a plec to nip a fish's fins, well in my experience ive not heard of this or seen this.
plecs can be terratorial but not to the extent of fin nipping....
