Do Plants Use Nitrite?

Im in my cycling process (2weeks in) with a few fish. My readings were ammonia <0.25ppm, and nitrite 0 nitrate 0. Could my plants be using all the nitrite and nitrate (no nitrite spike yet)? my tank is 50% planted. Im pretty sure they use ammonia cause my tapwater has more ammonia ppm then my aquarium water.

i also use cycle (ya i noe...) and stress zyme

they can take the ammonia first so the bacteria wont get so much to process into nitrite => nitrate
