Im setting up my 10 gallon tank into 4 sections for my bettas. It has a Eclipse 15 watt light so finally I can get my bettas some low light easy to grow plants.

The tank has no filter or air stone but it is heated to 78 degrees... Will I be able to grow Java Ferns and basic Swords or other really easy to grow plants with basically no air getting in the tank??

Plants are expensive here so I would hate to buy enough for 4 sections and eventually have them all die away.

plants do need oxygen for respiration, but if fish are in the tank then the plants will live too, as long as there is a little surface agitation you should be fine

I would advise buying a filter, with the low light plant growth will be slow so there may not be enough biomass to uptake all/ most of the ammonia produced.

What aaron said-that's going to be a nightmare to maintain, you'll be doing water changes twice a day to keep ammonia down! I've done fish in cycles with 1 betta in 5 gall and that was bad enough!
Some live plants for them is a geat idea though :good:
