Hi,

I wanted to tie a plant to my filter intake tube but if I do this its roots will not be in the substrate. Is this ok? Would it still live and grow?

Thanks :good:

It depends on the plant.

Java Fern and Anubias don't need their roots burying and grow best when tied to something like wood or stone.

You should be able to tie them to the tube.

I was thinking about Vallis. Are there any plants that can be tied that suit fairly low lighting and are south american... e.g amazon sword?

Thanks for the reply!

Neither Anubias nor java ferns require high lighting, they're both slow growers anyway :good:
