Do Plant Leaves Heal?

If a plant has a damaged leaf (brown spot, hole, etc...) can that leaf heal itself or should it be cut?

i would be more inclined to say no, a plant is more likely to just replace the leaf, think java ferns if a leave comes of theres a fresh one soon after

So if my plant has 3 browned leaves, I just pluck them out from the stem, and they'll grow back?
