My two neons in my 29g tank love to hang out in the down force of the HOB filter. Are they weird or do all tetras like currents?

yea i always pic the retarded or demented fish.

First i pick out a beautiful pair of peral angels then they develope red dots on their heads. Then i get neons whitch go suiciding and stick to the filter or get fried on the heater. Then i get a male and female sail fin molly and the female ate the male... literaly... then she jumped out of the tank. After that i buy 6 tiger barbs and they go on a killing spree and then 1 of the biggest barbs gets a spine disorder. lol just my luck.

I dunno, my cardinals seem to love to play in the current, neons are very closely related. :dunno:

I read somewhere that they live on the slow moving side on a river. so they must like some current, just very little (not stagnent either)

I have two neon tetras... one hangs out by the current while the other one stays away from it. They're quite funny to watch tho :p

Compare to other species it appears that they don't like fast current. Most of mine stays away from fast currents and given how they stay idle most of the time with their head facing downwards, I can't see how they can hold that position for long under fast current...

All of mine generally stay away from the current created by the HOB filter, but I don't know if yours are demented...maybe they're just different.

Nisha - I just want to tell you that that picture in your signature is incredibly nice. It's just so serene, with that one tetra right in the middle...I really like it. Congratulations, I wish I could get pictures like that.

Thanks Pete! It's a difficult tank to photograph and that's the only one that turned out right. I'm quite proud of it! :D

Back on topic...
My cardinals and neons enjoy the current to some extent. It certainly doesn't deter them from getting surface food! :fun:
