Do Mollies Like To Live In Pairs?

i currently have a speckled mollie in my tank along with the other fish (only 2 platys at the moment) i was wondering if these fish liked to be kept in pairs or if they are fine on there own.

I think they are fine by themselves, but if u want to keep a pair of them they both have to be females. If it's a male then u would have to have at least two females with it.

I have one molly with two platies and he follows them around everywhere like he was their best buddy. I have also wondered if he should have some buddies.
