USA,
im planning on getting some plants for the jewels, live ones, but i dont want to if they will eat them. i dont think they do, but with my luck id get them and they'de eat them. so i thought i'd ask first.

jewels are omnivorous. meaning that if live food is not available, they will resort to the plantings in a tank. make sure that they are secured down and gt the more tougher, fibrous plants. they seem to not prefer those.

I had mine in a tank for about 6 years with java fern , java moss and cripts , never saw them eat any plants , even during multi-week fasts I would put them through on occasion . They did however love green peas and sometimes corn .
