My one molly is sick for sure. I isolated him yesterday. I am pretty sure he has a fungus. He kind of looks dusty. His fins are a little tattered too. The rest of the fish in the tank look good. The only other fish that looks bad is the other one I bought just like the sick one. The dorsal fin looks like someone took a bit out of it. No white on that one though. Now my tank was cloudy for a few days and now it is all clear. It just cleared up overnight which I find weird too. It is about 35 gallons. I am going to treat my sick fish, but should I treat the rest of the tank. Will it hurt to trerat them if they are not sick. Thanks.

For fungus I would treat the sick fish but watch the other tank carefully. Don T.

It depends on what you are treating. When you say the molly looks dusty, does it look like it has a fine sprinkling of shiny dust on it or something?

I think it is this:

COLUMNARIS

SYMPTOMS: White cotton sprouting from fins or body..

TREATMENT: This is a bacterial disease. It can be treated with Fungus Guard or Fungus Eliminator or with MarOxy. It can be spread to other fish and other aquariums by using the same net.

Yes the fish most likely has columnaris, but it could also have other things too. If the fish looks like it has a shiny dust on it, then thats a parasite called velvet.

Thanks. NO shiny dust though.
