Found a 2.5 Gallon tank for sale at 33% off so I got it. Thinking of a betta no. 3 (well no. 2 I gave to my girlfriend, she has him in a 10G tanks with 5 cories).

Do I buy a nice one this time (like No. 2), or do I rescue another unfortunate Betta that is not too likely to be bought by anybody else (No. 1)?

I hear yah.

That would not be bad... the rescue option, you get the fish for a song because the owner knows it is in bad shape so wants to get rid of it. Me I like them whether they look good or tattered.

They are all sweet little babies...cheap or expensive.

I would rescue poor things, as it makes you a better fishkeeper, as you are learnig how to get an ill fish better and it is rewarding.

Got a small 1" female. She did not really looked distressed, but she was in a cup.

My girlfriend and her sister (ciclod types) got the betta bug too. Between them they got got 2 males and 2 female. So that is 5 betta's migrating from cups to 1.5~2.5 gallon tanks in one day. :D

All the females look fine but are tiny (1"). The males, one was white and the other was red. Nice looking guys, but it looks like staying in a cup too long has damaged their fins (clumped on the ends).

This weekend I am prepping tank no. 3 (a 2.5 gallon tank) and will look for another one next week.

The more I look at betta's, I have come realize that Max is not the ideal sample, and his tail fin is dreadfully small. Still my favorite though. :D
