Do I Need To Put Polystyrene Between Stand And Tank?

what does it look like? if it is bare glass touching the stand then yes

but if it has a plasic or metal rim around the bottom which means the glass isnt touching the base then no

yes i would get the poly on the bottom

It depends on how the tank is built. Flip it over, and put a straight edge across it. If there is a gap between the bottom glass & the straight edge don't use any polystyrene. Doing so will put pressure on the bottom glass, which it is not designed to take. This could result in the bottom glass breaking.

If the straight edge does touch, it will need polystyrene. This design is made so that the bottom glass will take the full weight. Any small piece of debris will create a very small, but very severe pressure point without the polystyrene.

definitely add poly
not sure why you wouldn't its cheap and you can't see it.
big tanks need it it helps them to stay level and absorb stress for the stand.

Floating base tanks are specifically designed not to have any contact between glass and stand. Putting polystyrene in the way compromises that.

Tolak's method is the one to follow.
