This little guy as been this way for possibly a month or more intermittently. Constant the last two weeks at least. I am assuming a swim bladder problem. He still eats but he must be suffering this way. I am sure if he stops trying to swim up he sinks. I am surprised his colors are still so vivid. What do you all think is the right thing to do?

It's always hard to decide to euthanize a fish. But I think it's time for your poor neon. It can only have a slower death, I don't know of any treatment that "might" even help at this point. Did you try any treatment before it got so sick? It has suffered enough...& watching its slow demise, you too have suffered enough. End it now, grieve a bit, & move on.

Clove oil is supposedly painless.

I'm sorry you have a difficult choice make. We all do at some point; it doesn't get easier with the years.

I would also ask are any of your other neons or other fish showing signs of problems?

tried to watch the vid but no go.
I had a tiger barb that swam in small circles all the time, that little fish lived for 2 years after it started.

Nope all the others, 5 additional neons and the other fish are all doing great. All my water parameters are good. I have had the sick neon along with the other 5 for approximately 6 months. Thnx for the reply.

I usually euthanise when a fish stops eating...I have a cherry barb who seems to have lost the ability to propel herself and swims with a jittering motion, she hides herself out the way of traffic areas and has been doing so for a long while. I considered euthanising her but she's still eating and gets stuck in when I feed the tank. She's in with rainbows who are extremely quick but she holds her own and gets her fill 🤷🏻‍♀️ until she can't I'll leave her be

The fish has a swim bladder problem and will burn itself out trying to stay in the water column and with the other fish. Euthanise it because there's no cure.
