I have a ten gallon betta tank that I am going to divide and put 2 bettas in.
I have a heater, a filter, gravel, the divider, the plants, but no bubbles. do I need them? :/

You don't NEED them. Some fish (even bettas) like them, some don't. I don't have them with any of my bettas except one. And that is because I was told it will help with the sickness she has. But she's by herself.

So, no you don't need one. :D

Airpumps and airstones are unnecessary, although you can use them if you want. The filter will help with air circulation, but even without out it there will be plenty of dissolved oxygen. And keep in mind that bettas take most of their air from the surface.

My Betta did not like the air stone in my 10 gal, he kept digging it out. He has been calmer since I took it out four months ago.

I have read that Bettas don't like current in the tank so no you don't need it and it might actually agrivate your Bettas. And you should make sure your filter isn't too strong ;)

From wuvmybetta's guide:

They are anabantoids which means they have an auxiliary breathing apparatus called a labyrinth organ. This enables them to breathe air directly from the surface.Air passes over the labyrinth organ and out the gill slits. This organ allows bettas to live in oxygen depleted waters that would be lethal to most regular tropical fish. It's a wonderful adaptation for survival in the rice paddies and also why bettas are usually kept in such deplorable conditions during their time in cups.
