Hello everyone this is my first post,
I have:
80 litre tank(15 gallons)
1 aquael internal power filter(450 l/h)
1 heater
no plants
4 scissortails,3 zebra danios,2 gouramies,1angelfish
Do i need an airpump or is the filter good enough to handle the tank?
Are there any fish that need high oxygen levels
Is aquael a good filter.Any reviews etc.
Do any of my fish need high oxygen levels.

Welcome to the forum!!!

You can add a arpump if you want purely to add decoration, but overwise your fine.

Although you shouldn't have a angel fish in that size tank unless your planning on a larger tank when it gets bigger.

Are u sure because the last time my power went off 2 of my fish died and i think it was because they did not have any oxygen though the temperature was fine?

Are there any fish which require higher levels of oxygen?

thnx

when the power filter is on it makes the water ripple and that is how most oxygen is diffused into the water if the power goes out then the power filer goes out and there is no more ripples. ok now that thats settled what if u had a air bubbler and the power goes out. the same thing occures.

i had the same problem w/ my fish. i live on the coast of n.c. so we get hit w/ a lot of hurricans and i normaly loose power. i waould say ur best bet would be to get a batt. power bubbler from ur local pet store. or u could order 1 online. (petsmart has some good 1)

the only fish that i know of that require a higher level of air would be catfish. b/c there always on the bottem of ur tank. u might want to ask some othere ppl about that.

n e way hope that helpes

:hi to the forums

Air stone/pumps only increase the surface area of the tank and do not add oxygen directly to the water. By increaseing the surface area and creating movement in the water it allows for a better exchange of gasses in you tank, one of which happens to be oxygen.

Now unfortunatly I can see some problems with you stocking levels
1) 4x scissortail (rasboras?) (need to be in groups of at least 6)2) 3x zebra danios (need to be in groups of at least 5) they will become very aggressive if not kept in groups
3) 1x angelfish (will grow very big) and you need at least 18" in height of tank for an adult, personnaly I'd have at least 24" but others disaggree on this. so this will need re-homing or returning to the lfs in time.

Big thnx for bluspyder,danio2004,paul v biker for their reply.
Do u guys know anything about aquael power filters(reviews etc.)
Is 450l/h on a 80 litre tank too little
Do any of yous know which is the hardiest tropical fish and also which is best for beginners cause im just a newbie.
What about the rippling effect from the power filter. Is that enough to oxygenate the water?
And about stocking How many fish could i add more to this tank besides the one i aldready have.
Thnx alot
sorry for the huge questions. :-(

You should have a heater (what tempature does your tank sit at without?) and the others are right about the angel fish. They are semi-aggressive, large cichlids and they need large tanks.

As for the air pump, these are for surface aggitation to help diffuse oxygen into the water and to stop a film developing too. if your filter does this already, you don't need an air pump too.

Maybe try doing a search on google for your filter type, I am not familiar with that kind.

:hi: to the forums.

The rippling effect from your filter will agitate the surface of the water and increase the oxygen diffusion.
