Hi all,

I have got what i hope is two Blue Rams, but im not so sure as i got them from different shops.

They have similar markings, but ive had them for about two months and there is a big difference in size, so this makes me unsure.

I think the larger is a male, and the smaller a female (she has a pink belly).

Also the male often chases the female around, so this also worries me, however he seems a bit of a bully with other fish too.

Anyway here a pics...

Any help will be great,

thanks, mike

Hi they both appear to be blue rams to me, though from the camera angle the female appears strangely shaped, a little to elongated but as I said probably just camera angle. Also just because you have a pair does not mean they will mate sometimes rams can be picky (In my experience anyways).

Hi
I agree with katchan they both look like blue rams to me(male and female) I have two and the female is alot smaller than the male.

They look like blue rams but the female looks like a bolivian not to shore thow

fishy whizz.................................

go to google and do a pic search for bolivian rams, they are not what this person has. coloration is WAY wrong. you ahve 2 blue rams with one being a slightly different shape, or just at a bad angle to the camera

Hey,

Yeah ive just done a good search, and have answered my own question..

DId a search for Bolivian, not them.

Then did a search for Blue rams, and found this (http://www.mainlycichlids.com/German_Rams.jpg) Mine look exactly like this saze and all!

I just think ive got an aggresive male!

Thanks for your help.

mike

Um....all my girls have the three black bars there on dorsal fin, they're just not quite as long. And yes, I'm sure of sex. Out of 3 pairs, I've had 3 spawns in last month..........

Yup
If it has a pink belly, it's a girl. The females if in good condition, can be just as colorful as the males, but the pink is ONLY female:)

Good luck, with clean water you will have munchkin rams soon.

o.my info must be wrong then.ha ha ha.im lookin for a pair myself.theres one store called tropical decor where i live that ive seen em in there.

are these a very expensive fish usually.at the store i found for like $5 to $8.

I got all four of my pairs from rkieger (he happens to live near me) at cichlid forums for $30...but adding shipping would drive it up a bid. I know my lfs sells them for about $7.99 each, but they almost never have girls..at least, not mature enough to tell they're girls.
