Actually, the smallest member of the Grouper family grows around 2''. Anthias and Basslets are included in the Serranidae family.

But the Grouper in question does grow very large. It will require a tank of at least 240 gallons, to at least give it room to turn around comfortably. Unfortunately, you will need to get a much larger tank to house these fish.

I'm with lynden on this one. Although I've done no research on the topic, I've come to the conclusion that Lynden is a futuristic super cool space robot.

Well, if the fish is Epinephelus ongus, a tank of around 90-120 gallons will suffice, but if it is E. caeruleopunctatus you will require at least double that to house the fish comfortably (no special powers of identification are needed to make that statement ) . The length of the tank should ideally be 4 times the fishes' length, and it should be wider than the fish is long; those values should be considered the bare minimum for many slow, predatory fish (Groupers, Lions, Scorpions, et cetera). Of course, these values do not fit for many other fish, such as Morays.
