Do I Cycle First

I just got a 2.5 gallon tank for one of my bettas (I haven't decided which one yet ) and before she was living in a bowl. I didn't cycle the bowl because I don't think that is possible but could I cycle the 2.5 gallon? I have a whole bottle of clear ammonia already . Is cycling in a tank this size affective? Is it necessary? How do I chose which fish to give it to ?

if it has a filter, i'd cycle it, if not, i wouldn't - i havent cycled any of my boy's tanks but none of them have filters. my girls are in a tank that was (quickly) cycled (used gravel from the main tank).

Well I kind of don't like the undergravel filter that came with it so I probably won't use it. Do you think that a filter would even be necessary in a 2.5 gallon?

for a betta? no. none of my boys have filters. my girls do, but they're in the old fry tank. just let the water sit out two days+ to get rid of the chlorine.
