Just an update.....

About 2 days after I got your responses, the clown decided to start "sleeping" vertical in the corner under the mag float every night. Haha coincidence!

Well my perc just swimsa around the tank like its mental, thought it had something with with him until I read this thread and noticed its not just mine doing it.

However I caught him kind of asleep the other morning when I woke up really early for work, he was jus in one corner still moving but very slowly and steadily and only a few inches!

my clowns can be found sleeping (or half rubbing half sleeping) on my torch, brain, hair algae, rock, open water etc.

They are moving, but at a much slower pace than when the lights are on. I rarely see the wake up since my lights come on while im at school.

Will a clown sleep in its hosted 'nem?

If so, I'm definately going to get an anemone for my clowns when I start my tank. After it matures, of course.

Yes they will.

I recommend going with the easier species, listed in order of how hardy I would rate them,
1) captive bred bubble tip Entacmaea quadricolour.
distant 2nd) wild caught bubble tip.
3) Stichodactyla haddoni.
4) Heteractis crispa, non-bleached.
5) Macrodactyla doreensis.

Just in my opinion.

My ocellaris clowns do slow down at night. One sleeps between the thermometer and the glass (or on top of the powerhead, when the mood strikes him), the other floats on it's side while hardly moving. Which is worrying to anyone who sees it: "OH NO NEMO IS DEAD"

They're both quite active and healthy during the day
