Sometimes during the day I notice my fish moving very little, staying at the bottom of the tank, as if they're sleeping. Some normally active ones stay hidden under the rocks. Being an overly paranoid newbie, I wonder if they're alright.

(They're doing this now -- I just added a large glassful of treated water because I was trying to compensate for the water that evaporated over the weekend, and now about an hour later, some of them seem a lot less active.)

Not sure about napping during the day, I know I sure like to but I guess it depends on the fish and when your lighting is on. But I just wanted to say about topping up your tank that its probably not the best thing in the world to do. When water evaporates, its only the water that goes, not the crap so the concentration is increased. So by just topping up with water, over time that'll get worse and worse. If evaporation is a problem for you, you should only use your weekly water changes as a time to get back to your prefered level.

:good:

Not sure about my danios and cories, but I know my bettas (specially my lazy boy Caine) naps during the day.

Well can't really say many of my fish nap during the day. They always seem like their up to something, whether chasing each other for fun or looking for food, even after I've just fed them. I think they only sleep at night really and then not much then either.

Mine sleep all the time. I have had numerous varieties of fish and can safely say they all take naps. Some are sleep much more deeply than others. I rather enjoy tapping the glass on my cory tank (on rare occasions)and watch the cories take off like a rocket out of a deep sleep.

my clown loaches sleep all day and come out at night my female guppies sleep more than they should

can remember when i came home one night in the early hours and every one of my fish were asleep

mine sleep all the time, i think they stagger their sleep so someones on guard :)
