Females can have egg spots, they're not a reliable indicator of sex. Unfortunately most male red zebras in the LFS industry aren't blue, wild caughts often are. Males are generally a lighter orange than the females who are a dark orange/red. They won't reach their full color potential until they reach sexual maturity which is usually around 2 inches or so.
