got 2 tanks one with pest snails and one with 4 nerite snails in and want some assasins
i will put some in the one with pest snails in but could i put a few in with the nerite's or would they gang up on them and kill them?
there are 4 nerite's which are full size and will be buying the assasins young

Depends on their size.
Assain only eat 1-2 snails a week.

If your snails are breeding then it should not be a problem

the nerite's arn't breeding becuase i have been told they only breed in brackish water
also if there were no snails in the tank is there an alternative to feed them

The short answer is "no". I've kept nerites and Clea helena together for about a year now, and while the Clea have worked their way through all kinds of other small snails, the nerites are just fine. So far as I can tell, Clea only go for snails smaller than they are, so provided the other snails (nerites, apple snails, Tylomelania spp.) are bigger, they're left alone.

Cheers, Neale

I have seen my Clea helena gang up to take down a larger pond snail which was twice the size of the largest assassin attacking it. 3 of them chased and feasted on the pond snail then it took 3-4 days for me to see them actively hunting again. They will take down larger prey but generally will be peaceful towards them if smaller easier prey is available.
