I just bought 3 albino cories last week. Every once in awhile I notice one or another will stop their usual busy scurrying around the tank, and lie so still that I think they're dead! Sometimes they're even laying on their side! Next thing I see, they're back up and back to business. Is this normal?

Hi vanvran :)

Albino C.aeneus corys are among the most active and entertaining, especially when they are young.

When they are active they might swim up and down the glass, or back and forth across it. Sometimes one will dart to the surface for a gulp of air and the others will follow his example and rush up there too.

But when they are not playing, they might be very still for long periods of time. Sometimes they will go into their cave and you won't see them for a while. This is all normal behavior.

But laying on its side is unusual. Please keep an eye on it to be sure he has no symptoms of other problems. Make sure that he is in control when he swims and does not spin.

Aside from that, just be certain that the water is kept clean and the bottom vacuumed to keep them in good condition.

Aren't corys great little fish?

Oh, I love them --they are the cutest! I will keep my eye on them, it scares me everytime I see them do that. The water readings are all perfect and I vacuum and change H20 weekly, and only feed once a day.

Yeah, my Albino's are really old, 4-5 years now, and I've never seen them lay on their side. Did it just do it one time only?

I've noticed it 2x but with 2 different cories. I've had them for almost a week now, and they seem fine, very active, very cute.
