the other thing is that i would like to put two cuckoo snodontis in there but im not bothered about tanganyikan cichlids cause id like to be able to mix freswater tropical fish in but i need ideas on larger fresh water fish any thoughts

ps my cuckoos dont mind the other fish and are not bothered as long as thers a hole they can go in

What other fish have you got and how big are your Synodontis?
What are the dimensions of your tank?

the synodontis are 10 cm and ther are no others in there no idea of the dimensions but it is long and tall

Can you give a rough guess as it will make it easier for suggestions? :good:

You may struggle to find anything suitable other than Tanganikyan, mainly because of the size of the tank and also water parameters.
They prefer to be in a group and can easily reach 8" fully grown, which means they would need a bigger tank. Smaller fish will more than likely become lunch and bigger fish prefer more swimming space.
What tpe of fish were you thinking of keeping with them?

i dont realy know i was thinking of some smaller tanganyikan but i recently have been thinking about small angelfish and smaller sharks, a dude at th fish shop told me i could lump in some clown loaches but i recon he was trying to get me to buy something..... i may have irritated him, i was also intrested in some phantom plecos. the tanganyikan fish like alkaline right but the cuckoo have been fine with neutral so i thought i may be able to throw in some larger non cichlids

Phantom Plecs can be a little sensitve and I wouldn't house them with the Synodontis.
Clown Loach would need a much larger tank as they can reach 12", they also prefer softer water, as do the Angels.
You may be able to get away with larger Danios or a small shoal of Rainbowfish.
