Hi all,

Recently my roomie and I had a 10 gal with a small crack turn into a 10 gal with a big, leaking crack. We have a big split going all the way across one pane of glass and we'd like to know the easiest most efficient way to repair it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's a complete pane replacement and reseal or a new tank I'm afraid.
You need to do the math and costing of a new piece of glass and sealant against a new 10 gallon.

That was sort of what we figured with 10 gals costing $12 at petsmart. We got it as part of a package 115 gallons worth of tanks for $70. Unfortunately, I think I must have shoved them in my car too hastily and cracked it.

For $12 (£6) then I'd just go and buy another 10 gallon tank.

Not that it makes a huge difference, but you should be able to find them even cheaper than that if you have any dedicated aquarium stores in the area. PetSmart seems to mark the prices up quite a bit on hardware compared to other places. I usually see 10-gallon tanks around $7.50.
