Well I found out the hard way removing my plants from my gold fish tank makes the Nitrates sky rocket. SO I need to add more plants and a CO2 System.

For this tank I will be using a DIY yeast co2 generator with a DIY mix but I am unsure what to use as an injector. :/ I have three ideas; which is the best?

1: Simply block the end of the tube and poke pin-hole holes in the tube and burry in the gravel around the plants so it shoots out small bubbles right next to the nitrate eating plants.

2: let it go up into a "co2 bell" and let the water take it out of the bell

3: some how inject it into my canister filter. this one I have questions on but that will come soon. I am planning to just place the end of the tube inside the intake and let the bubbles go up into it. Questions are..

Note: I have a Rena XP3 on a 55-gallon tank.

will this work? or will it stop it from working.
will it dissolve into the water and get back out of the filter or just create a large air bubble inside the filter?
will this increase the noise of the filter?

I think number 2 and 3 are your best bets. You wont be able to get good enough diffusion out of 1 imo (i'm still learning so take anything i say with a pinch of salt ;)).

55g is a large tank size for a DIY system, you would probably need more than one.

Not sure on the last 2 qns but it may increase the noise of the filter if it makes bubbles not sure.

Hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about can help lol..

i dont know about filter injections much, but, why cant you just buy two bubble counters $10 each and hook up some 20oz coke bottles with the diy system?

what is a bubble counter?

try ebay if you want the diffuser, as for me, i use a powerhead aimed downwards into a cylinder with the bubble from the diy going into the tube.

the downards force of the water, and the upwards force of the bubble will cause it to tumble all over in the cylinder and ultimately gets released at an opening at the bottom as tiny tiny co2 bubbles.

i set it up 3 days ago and all my plants are pearling after 1 day :)

oh and.. i think #3 is a good choice also, but.. i think it might make it a bit louder than usual.

would that filter of yours move around the water so much that it wont let the co2 hang in the water ?
