Diy Filter?

ok iv got a 1000lph pump i was wandering if i could turn this into a external filter for my 60l tank.

i was thinking a sealed "box" with 2 pipes one in one out.

something like this

the greens filter media probably sponge

would this work ?
would 1000lph be enough filtration for a 60L tank ?

No reason why it wont work, but its a lot of lph for such a small tank and it would probably make more noise than needed. A small internal filter should be perfectly capable.

iv got a massive filter for it... its like 8" tall really powerfull its in the 40guppie tank (cycled)

but iv also got a mini one which do you thinks better ?
