Hi all

i decided a while ago, to get back into the hobby and try grow some plants in my tropical setup.
After a little research i decided to build the simple 2ltr bottle, sugar, yeast water type.
This is then diffused into the tank using a dennerle diffuser (the type that diffuses the co2 into the water by zig zagging it up coloums)
The results have been great but i have one small problem,
Every 1 or 2 days im having to clean the diffuser out due to a white ish slime build up in the bottom of the diffuser, the slime obstructs the path of the co2 and the operation of the diffuser.
Any ideas what it is and anything i can do to stop/reduce it?
The mixture i am using is 2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon of yeast and a pinch of bicarb in a two litre bottle.
Tis gives me about a bubble a second in my 230ltr tank.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Its normal to get some slime but having to clean it every two days seems far too much. I am not sure why there would be so much, the addition of a gas separator will help. (see Corin Castles thread here named Plan and Future Journal of new Tank, there is a good link and the thread shows the gas separator)

P.S. Welcome to the forum.
:)

Many Thanks Liam,

I am going to give this a go tonight, i will let you know if it improves the slime.

Cheers
