So I have DIY co2 running and today I moved my tube farther up in my internal filter so the bubbles are coming out directly below the impeller. Two possible issues:
Is it ok that the tubing is pinched in some spots?
There are bubbles coming out every second thus having tiny little bubbles being spread all over my tank, is this ok?

thanks guys :good:

Diffusion of the CO2, within the filter, is the point of introducing the CO2 into the filter. I don't think it really matters how far the line is inserted into the filter. However, kinks in the line are a likely problem. DIY doesn't develop much or constant pressure and therefore any restriction of the CO2 flow is going to have a negative impact. This is particularly true if you are using silicone or plastic tubing as these materials are corroded by CO2.

so I should probably take it out and just have it going in a little so no kinks are in it?

DIY CO2 can produce HUGE pressures if you're not careful. that's why you should never make a DIY setup using glass bottles. The yeast doesn't stop producing CO2 until very high pressures and so unless there is an escape point the pressure will keep rising and rising until the weakest part of the system goes bang. If you don't believe me make up as yeast solution in a screw cap pop bottle and put the lid on tight. Just don't blame me for the mess (and I wouldn't want to be around that thing when it goes bang!).
A kink in the pipe will unlikely stop the CO2 unless the kink is forcefully enforced. What will probably happen is that the tubing will balloon on the reactor side of the kink until it deforms enough to allow the gas past. Saying that it's far better to make sure the gas can escape easily. If you can blow bubbles through the tube as it is then you'll more than likely be OK.

O wow, thanks. Right now the bubbles come through easy and if I squeeze the bottle bubbles come through easy, do you think I"m ok?

thanks

Can I ask why have you got it going into the filter and not a diffuser?

surely that is the best way forward?

Mine is under my spray bar so teh CO2 gets distributed

I don't have a diffuser, and this is the next best method as of now, until I get a diffuser :)

fair enough, question answered. Can't help you any cos I don't think I'd be able to get my airline into my internal filter without 'pinching' the tube
