Last night I tested the PH and it was 7.2. This morning I tested it and it is 6.8.

Should I be concerned?? How do I limit the CO2 from a DIY system. I am Diffusing through my filter AquaClear Power Filter 50.

Co2 does that to ph. It's the natural reaction. To limit the flow, you need to attach an airline hosecontroller to the line. It's just one of the tings you use with an air pump to control its flow.

Do you know what the co2 level is in the tank?

I didn't know I would need a air controller for a DIY. I can't test the CO2 because I don't have a kit for it (might go grab one tonight). I shouldn't of kept the Co2 running overnight.

The problem I am confromted with is the water change. My water used to be close to a 7-8 in PH. If its 6.8 how would it affectt he fishes when it comes to water changes?

Although that pH drop looks like a lot, it really isn't that bad. I keep my co2 on 24 hours as well, and have had no issues with it.

You don't really need the air line controller. If you have a fine needle valve on the regulator, you probably dont need it. My regulator doesn't control low psi's very well, so I added it to further bring it down. You really need to know the co2 level in the tank. For that you need a ph and kH test kits. They tell you what the co2 is at.

edit. I just read that you are doing diy. Once you know your co2 level, and if you find that you have too much, the best way to reduce the amount of the gas in the tank is to adjust the amount of yeast in your bottle.
