Right, im doing the DIY CO2 yeast and sugar method with my tank. And on all the places i look on the recipe it says 2 cups of sugar.

What in gods name is 2 cups?

Also some site say use 2 bottles one with yeast and one with dissolved sugar, other say 1 bottle with all the stuff in it? Which is better?

Edit - Well i found a site which says 325g of sugar but then it says 1.5 teaspoon of yeast so .

Im doing it for a 60L setup so how many grams of sugar? then 1 teaspoon of yeast?, Should i add baking soda? Will it increase the yield of CO2 significantly?

Also i have no check valve. Im planning to get one but will it matter if i put that on later?

1 cup is one measuring cup, (about 250ml, not sure what that is in grams, probably the same, ie: 250g).
If you find a glass and fill it with about 250ml of water, then make a line with a felt pen, that will give you the equivalent of one cup.

You can have more or less sugar and it depends on what type of yeast you use. Bakers yeast will only survive in low alcohol levels and this is obtained with less sugar.
More sugar will produce higher concentrations of alcohol and beer, wine or spirit yeast will tolerate these higher concentrations. However, once their limit is reached they all end up dieing and a new culture needs to be started.

It doesn't really matter how much yeast you start with as it grows pretty quickly once it is in the sugar water mixture. Starting with more yeast will provide you with CO2 gas much sooner.

A check valve will stop tank water draining into the culture, which sometimes happens but not often.

Okay the Diffusers came..then i read that i can't have my airstone on and that i should minimise surface agetation...

My tank isnt heavily planted (2 small plants atm gonna have some more soon) i will lower the water which is put back from the top from the filter to very low. But im a bit worried about only running the airstone at night.

What do you guys think on this can i keep my airstone running for now? And i know my pH is gonna go down with the addition of CO2 so any good links about maintaining my tanks pH without having to buy some chemical stuff.

ph will be fine, it is a gradual drop and fish will be fine.

it will also be hard to get co2 levels high enough to gas your fish, plus the plants will put some O2 into the water.
